Set the serial number options for items

For each serial number verified item, you can configure tracking, format and validation of the format. You can also specify that for tracking and/or format and/or validation, the system default is used for the item. You can set the system default via system management.

Choose System Management > General Settings > Item Settings in the Navigation Pane.
Choose Configuration > Item Settings in the Data Pane.

In the option group Serial Number Options, enter the following data:

Drop-down menu	Explanation
Default Serial Number Tracing	Choose one of the following tracking options: Creation and Removal, only the creation of the serial number of the item and the removal of the serial number from the item are recorded. Full, each operation to the item is saved.
Default Serial number Generation Format	Choose how the serial numbers are defined (format): Sequence, the serial number is created according to the preset numbering. Item + Sequence, the serial number is made up of the product name followed by the preset numbering. Order + Sequence, the serial number is made up of the order (ID) followed by the preset numbering. Order + Item + Sequence, the serial number is made up of the order (ID) followed by the product name and followed by the preset numbering.
Default Serial number Validation Pattern	Click in the field and check one or more of the patterns to be used to validate the serial numbers: Sequence, the serial number is validated based on the preset numbering. Item + Sequence, the serial number is validated based on product name, followed by the preset numbering. Order + Sequence, the serial number is validated based on the order (ID) followed by the preset numbering. Order + Item + Sequence, the serial number is validated based on the order (ID) followed by the product name and followed by the preset numbering. If you have changed the format you must add the corresponding validation pattern. The previous validation pattern must remain checked. When creating a new serial number, the format is always validated.

Default Serial Number Tracing

Choose one of the following tracking options:
